Samsung did not believe in the Galaxy S21

Samsung intends to limit shipments of its new flagships. The Korean edition of The Elec reports this, citing sources.

According to a source report, the South Korean company intends to ship 26 million Galaxy S21 units to market in the first month. In 2020, the company shipped about 36 million devices to suppliers. According to journalists, Samsung executives came to this opinion, based on data on sales of smartphones of the Galaxy S20 series – about 26 million pieces. Korean officials do not believe that the corporation can sell more gadgets.

The majority of shipments are reportedly for the base flagship Galaxy S21 – 40 percent or 10 million units. The Galaxy S21 + and Galaxy S21 Ultra will each have 30 percent or eight million devices. Analysts have noticed that the share of Ultra flagships has increased compared to 2020. This is due to the fact that the Korean company underestimated the demand for its top-end flagship.

Decreased sales of Samsung smartphones in 2020 are associated with the coronavirus pandemic and high competition in the premium segment of the market. Apple and Xiaomi are fighting for the market with the Korean company – the latter seeks to take market share, partially vacated by Huawei, which is under US sanctions.

The release of the new Samsung flagships took place on January 14th. The lineup includes the Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra. The cost of the most affordable device of the series in Russia was 75 thousand rubles.

In March 2020, experts recorded the failure of the new line of Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones on the market. The reasons for the failure were called the global economic crisis, a decline in production, the spread of a deadly virus and a decrease in subsidies paid by Samsung to retailers.
