Samsung began to “break” cameras in new smartphones when trying to reflash them

by alex

Samsung recently unveiled the new Galaxy Z Fold3 with a flexible screen. The XDA Developers community, of course, got interested in the possibility of unlocking its bootloader and found something nasty.

Samsung has long made root access difficult, but now the company has introduced another barrier. Samsung disables cameras on Galaxy Z Fold3 after user unlocks bootloader.

Previously, enthusiasts could face the loss of warranty, Samsung Pay and security features on a Samsung device. Now a non-working camera is added to the pile of these problems. And it’s too difficult to come to terms with it.

It is noted that after the appropriate manipulations, even third-party camera applications and face unlocking stop working. Relocking the bootloader makes the camera work again.
