Salzburg continues its winning streak in Hartberg

by alex

Series champion Salzburg won in Hartberg for the sixth time in a row. The WAC won in Altach.

With hooks and eyes: The rotated Salzburgers had quite a lot to do in Hartberg

The white vest holds on: Salzburg could look forward to their ninth competitive win this season. In Hartberg there was a 1-0 victory without much shine.

Coach Matthias Jaissle exchanged quite a bit, seven players, including endurance runner Andreas Ulmer, Brenden Aaronson and Benjamin Sesko were allowed to breathe through more exhausting English weeks. The 18-year-old Dane Maurits Kjærgaard celebrated his starting eleven debut in the Bundesliga, and Zlatko Junuzovic was also able to contribute his experience from the very first minute.

In the opening minutes, however, the Styrians had more of the game, played courageously forward and had the first chance after five minutes through Kofler, who failed to goalkeeper Köhn. There was a brief penalty alarm on both sides, but Referee Ebner rightly whistled for a penalty whistle.

Everything according to plan

The game then went more and more according to the paper form, the series champion took over the command, the supposed substitute players wanted to play themselves in the spotlight with a view to the next few weeks, but like their colleagues were hardly effective.

In the 33rd minute, the Bulls became dangerous for the first time, after a pass from Kjærgaard Adamu just missed the goal with a volley. The best of the first half came at the end (44th): With the very first shot on Hartberger's goal, the Argentinean Nicolás Capaldo, who came from the Boca Juniors, took the lead from an acute angle.

The Hartberger had the first chance through goalgetter Tadic even after the break. The next one had a gentleman who was called up to the German team for the first time on Friday, but Adeyemi's attempt was the prey of Hartberg goalkeeper Swete.

In the 55th minute, however, it almost equalized, Piatkowski slipped as the last man in extremely wet conditions, but Tadic stumbled before Köhn. There were still chances for veteran Sonnleitner on the one hand and Sesko on the other.

WAC jubilation in the Ländle

Altach location

The game between SC Rheindorf and the guests from Wolfsberg started to the taste of the Altach fans – with a treat from Atdhe Nuhiu, who took the lead after five minutes with a heel after a shot from Thurnwald (5th).

But the Vorarlbergers became more and more passive and left the Carinthians more and more of the game. That took revenge before the break with the cold shower in the form of a double strike by the WAC: In the 43rd minute, the Israeli Tai Baribo converted a Liendl free kick with his head. And only a minute later Liendl had his legs in the game again, Thorsten Röcher took his ball in the penalty area perfectly and scored for the lead. A combination of Liendl and Röcher would have almost led to the 1: 3 before the break. This would have come almost after an hour, but Baribo's goal did not count – offside.

For Altach it was the second home defeat this season. The Carinthians, on the other hand, have caught up and taken seven points from the last three games.

Water polo: interruption in Klagenfurt due to a storm

Capricious weather conditions in Klagenfurt

The match between Austria Klagenfurt and WSG Tirol had to be interrupted in the Wörthersee-Arena: a storm brought first heavy rain, then hail and finally thunder and lightning and a place that was unplayable. In the 19th minute, referee Spurny stopped the match, and the spectators fled to the dry in the stands. Since 7 p.m. they have been playing again.
