Flexible screen smartphones have only been on the market for a couple of years. So far, they are a gimmick and cannot boast of large sales. But that may soon change.
Counterpoint Research said that shipments of foldable smartphones will triple in 2021 compared to 2020. In numbers, shipments will be about 9 million.
But by 2023, a 10-fold increase is expected. Analysts believe Samsung will dominate the flexible smartphone segment with over 88 percent share. There is another opinion regarding this – an insider Ice Universe says that Samsung will not be the leader for long. He draws analogies with the 5G smartphone segment, in which the company first dominated and then lost ground.
