Bushra Khalil, a lawyer for former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, spoke about strong pressure from the United States during the trial of a special tribunal. She gave details of the trial to RIA Novosti.

The lawyer noted that she was scared, she worried about her life, since several lawyers were killed at that time, the last of which was Khamis Ubeidi.

“Several times the judge took me out of the hall. The last time an American approached me and asked if I wanted to return, and we continued negotiations from 6 to 11, and at the end he asked again if I wanted to return to court, and I said yes. Then he said that I should be silent, like my friends, which means that they did everything to keep the trial staged, ”Khalil recalled.

Earlier, a former Iraqi translator who worked with the Americans anonymously disclosed details of Saddam Hussein's detention. According to him, he was with the US military, conducting the operation to detain Hussein. Hussein's whereabouts were determined as a result of surveillance of his security guard, who was buying up “the best goods of certain brands” in the markets. He was on a farm in the El Maabar area.

Dictator Saddam Hussein was executed on December 30, 2006. He was arrested as a result of the US invasion of Iraq, which took place under the pretext of searching for weapons of mass destruction, the presence of which in the country has not been confirmed. However, the prosecution was able to prove Hussein's guilt in the killings of the Iraqi population.
