The Irish low-cost airline carried two-thirds fewer passengers in 2020.
The stricter travel restrictions in the corona pandemic have ruined the low-cost airline Ryanair's business in December even more than in the months before. In the past month, the Irish company counted 1.9 million passengers, 83 percent less than a year earlier, as it announced on Tuesday. The slump was thus stronger than it has been since the actual travel stop in April, May and June. In November the decline was 82 percent.
In the whole of 2020, Ryanair carried 52.1 million passengers, 66 percent fewer than in 2019. In the summer months, business initially recovered a good bit before it began to decline again since September. Like other airlines, the Irish have drastically cut their winter offer. In December, Ryanair reportedly carried out only 22 percent of the usual flights. The machines were on average 73 percent full.
