Russian Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov, in an interview with the Euractiv news portal, rejected Moscow's intentions to conquer the territory of Ukraine. He stressed that the Russian Federation already has enough space, so there have never been such plans.
The diplomat, however, pointed out that the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR) should be within the borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
“The territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics will actually be expanded to cover all of these two 'regions',” Chizhov said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special operation in the Donbass. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of martial law in Ukraine and the severance of diplomatic relations with the Russian side.
