The UN Secretary General believes that the only way to resolve the conflict is through diplomacy.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres, speaking in Munich, said that the military conflict in Ukraine would be a disaster and called on Russia to de-escalate.
He made such a statement at the Munich Security Conference on Friday, February 18.
According to the UN Secretary General, the expansion of Russian aggression in Europe will not happen, but if it does, it will be a disaster. “I think it won't happen. But if it does, it will be a disaster,” Guterres said.
According to him, the only way to resolve the conflict is through diplomacy. “All issues must be resolved through negotiations,” the UN Secretary General added.
Recall that, according to Washington, Russia could collect up to 190,000 troops near the borders of Ukraine. They are concentrated, in particular, along the border of Ukraine, Belarus and Crimea.
On February 17, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said that Russia had pulled about 140,000 of its military personnel to the borders of Ukraine and had not yet begun to actually withdraw the army.
