VKontakte summed up the results of the year and announced a new product – a separate mobile application of the VK Video platform. This was reported in the press service of the social network.
It is noted that the new application will become a convenient entry point into the multimillion-dollar content library of video services of the VK ecosystem and will provide viewers with a new experience of interaction. Russians will be able to quickly navigate to personalized selections of films, TV series, TV shows, sports matches and e-sports broadcasts, as well as videos uploaded by users of VK video services. The video platform's own search service and a recommendation system based on machine learning algorithms will help with this.
According to STO VKontakte, VK Video and VK Zvonkov Alexander Tobol, this year the key direction of the team's technological strategy was the breakthrough development of technologies in the field of video and conferencing, machine learning algorithms on the platform and acceleration of content delivery through network optimization. “In 2021, VKontakte was one of the first in the world to introduce advanced data transfer technology based on the new QUIC Internet protocol – we doubled the speed of content delivery. In addition, VK Calls became the first platform where an unlimited number of participants can simultaneously connect to an online meeting with audio and video, and the new video platform VK Video already at the start became the number 1 in Russia in terms of the size of the daily audience, ”he said.
Tobol also noted that the separate VK Calls desktop application, launched this year, as well as the new VK Video mobile application, which will appear in 2022, will provide all VK users with the opportunity to experience all the benefits and advantages of the advanced technologies of the ecosystem during work, study, recreation. , chatting with friends and dealing with everyday affairs.
