Financier Makarov: after the holidays, Russians will be able to profitably buy dollars and euros

Sergei Makarov, Deputy Director of the Capital Markets Department at Accent Capital, told the Prime agency that after the New Year holidays, Russians will be able to profitably purchase the currencies of developed countries, including the dollar and the euro.
According to him, against the background of growing risks in the geopolitical sphere, the ruble has significantly weakened since November, when it managed to stay at the level of 70 rubles per US dollar.
The financier added that until the next meeting of the Central Bank, which is scheduled for February 11, one should not expect a serious strengthening of the domestic currency.
Earlier, analysts called the ruble one of the best currencies in developing countries. During 2021, it lost less value than competing currencies. Since the beginning of the year, the exchange rate of the ruble against the dollar has decreased by 0.3 percent – from 74.4 to 74.65 rubles per dollar. The highest values for the year, the value of the currency reached on October 26, when it was traded at 69.5 rubles per dollar, the lowest – on April 9, when the dollar could be bought for 77.4 rubles.
