A mammoth made of iron from the Magadan region was named the winner in the All-Russian competition for the most unusual folk art object of the country “Tutu Art”. This became known from the press release of the online service ”
The sculpture of an ancient animal is made of scrap metal — the “skin” is covered with gears, cogs and bearings and resembles elements of a clockwork mechanism. According to the creator Yuri Rudenko, the idea of the art object came to him after visiting an abandoned mine, where he saw mammoth bones interspersed with metal objects of labor.
The mammoth made of iron overtook its rival, copies of the world towers from the Vologda Oblast, by a small margin – it was chosen by 31.3 percent of the voting participants against 30.4 percent. The third place was taken by plastic masterpieces from the Penza region (8.1 percent), the fourth – the park of the stone period from the Republic of Bashkortostan (8.09 percent). The guardian mosquito of Siberia from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug closes the top five with 6.2 percent of the votes.
The top 10 best art objects also included a house made of bottles from the Kursk region, a wooden “Donkey” from the Rostov region, a copy of the X-Wing spacecraft from Yakutia, anti-vandal hares from the Republic of Karelia and the Vainakh Tower from the Chechen Republic.
The first stage of the Tutu Art competition started on October 12, 2021. 85 objects took part in the competition — one from each region of Russia. The list of unusual creations was compiled based on the options proposed by the Tutu community in social networks, as well as the expert council of the competition.
