Richard Dearlove believes that it is important to conduct a dialogue with "your opponents or enemies".
The UK government must come to terms with the fact that Russians perceive the war in Ukraine as a war with countries West.
This was stated by the former head of the British secret intelligence service MI6 Richard Dearlove, Sky News reports.
“We have to come to terms with the fact that the Russians think that they are at war with us,” he emphasized.
Richard Dearlove recalled the words of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who called the current situation a pre-war situation and noted that he was wrong.
“I think this is a real war,” he noted.
At the same time, the former head of the secret intelligence service noted that for the Russians, this war with the West does not mean an immediate military conflict, but “a hybrid conflict or different types of conflict in different arenas of interest.”
Richard Dearlove added that it is important to engage in dialogue with “your opponents or enemies,” especially now that the contained conflict could spill over into Europe.
Recall that on November 22, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that there is a “serious and real” threat of global war after the large-scale escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
