At the Mulino military training ground (Nizhny Novgorod region), one could easily shoot a fantastic film. There, in the battle formations of troops participating in the strategic Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2021”, formidable monsters were seen spewing fire and crawling from the front line to the rear and back. They were reconnaissance and fire support robots. For the first time they participated in such noble maneuvers, “shoulder to shoulder” with Russian and Belarusian soldiers and officers.
The unmanned steel vehicle “Nerekhta” worked in the field weeds “in the sweat of the brow”: it either sneaked closer to the front line for reconnaissance of the enemy's positions, then arranged frantic fire support for the defending units. And she had something to shoot from. It is equipped with a combat module with a 12.7-mm Kord machine gun and a 30-mm AG-30M grenade launcher. But “Nerekhta” can not only fight, it is also capable of adjusting the fire of its troops at enemy positions and quickly deliver ammunition from the rear to the front line.
One more, no less formidable robot, “Uranus-9”, also operated on the battlefield. In the language of designers, it is called a combat unmanned multifunctional robotic complex on a tracked chassis. Designed to perform combined combat, reconnaissance and counter-terrorist missions. Its armament is impressive – a 30-mm cannon, four “Attack” anti-tank guided missiles and as many as 12 “Shmel-M” rocket-propelled flamethrowers. Such equipment allows “Uranus” to destroy enemy personnel and armored vehicles at a distance of 3000 to 5000 meters.
