The Russian national ice hockey team beat the USA team in the first match at the World Youth Championship in Canada. The correspondent of “Lenta.ru” informs about it.

Vasily Ponomarev (9th, 32nd minutes), Zakhar Bardakov (24), Ilya Safonov (33) and Yegor Chinakhov (60) distinguished themselves in the Russian team. The game took place in the first round of the group stage. The rivals of Russia and the USA in group B – Sweden, Czech Republic and Austria – have not played their opening matches in the tournament yet. On December 26, the Americans will play with a team from Austria, and the Russians will face the Czechs on December 27.
