Russian woman Anastasia Sheredko told the details of her abduction in Cambodia. In an interview with Lenta.ru, she confirmed that she was abducted on December 12 and released a week later.
“I want to thank the Russian consulate, the Cambodian government and the police, including the military police, as well as all my friends who sincerely worried about me and worried about me, including Lenta.ru and other media that promptly covered my story,” said Sheredko. According to her, it was thanks to joint efforts that she managed to free herself from captivity.
Sheredko said that she was abducted by a Chinese citizen, with whom she went on a date on December 12, but he did not act alone. The intruders used violence against her and after a while resold to other people. Those, seeing the uproar, decided to free the kidnapped girl. “The people who kept me for the sake of earning money saw that the police, the consulate, the Russian and Chinese media were looking for me, and decided that it was easier to let me out,” she said.
Sheredko noted that the Cambodian police continue to conduct operational-search activities, so she cannot share other details of her case. The girl separately emphasized that such crimes do not have citizenship or nationality, and such a situation can happen to any person in any country. “They kidnap those on whom they can make money: it can be men and women, and travelers, and businessmen, and workers in any field,” Sheredko said.
The abduction of Anastasia Shereredko became known on December 17. At first, the man with whom the girl met before her disappearance claimed that she had gone home and did not know where she was, but later demanded 10 thousand dollars from the girl's friends for information about her whereabouts. At the same time, the man refused to provide a video with the Russian woman, saying that Anastasia was allegedly already “with other people”. On December 19, it became known that the girl was found alive and she is at home.
