Russian warships can be equipped with combat robots
Project 20380 corvettes can be equipped with combat sapper robots that can destroy underwater mines, Izvestia reports, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense.
At this stage, the issue of equipping the ships of the Russian Navy with sapper robots is under discussion. However, it is already known that the first among these combat robots will receive the corvette of the Pacific Fleet “Aldar Tsydenzhapov”, named after the sailor, Hero of Russia, who saved the ship at the cost of his life.
It is assumed that the latest Russian corvettes will be equipped with a robotic system “Diamant”, thanks to which not only mine clearance, but also deep-sea work will be possible.
“Today it is installed on modern mine-sweepers of Project 12700 Alexandrite,” suggested military historian Dmitry Boltenkov.
The “Diamant” system consists of two boats with special underwater robots, hydroacoustic devices and magnetometers, which operate at a depth of up to 100 meters.
Earlier, the USC told about the project of the nuclear submarine “Gorgon”.
