For the first time in modern Russian history, a Russian warship, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, entered the port of Sudan, Interfax reports, citing the press service of the Black Sea Fleet.
It is noted that the visit was organized at the invitation of Sudan, where a logistics center for the Russian Navy will soon be created.
During the visit, “Admiral Grigorovich” is to replenish supplies, and the personnel to take part in the exercises “AMAN-2021” in the Arabian Sea. After that, he will be given rest.
It is also reported that the opening of a logistics center for the Navy in Sudan is in line with the goals of maintaining peace and stability in the region. It is defensive in nature and is not directed against other states.
