Late in the evening of March 12, Russian armed forces bombed the Svyatogorsk Lavra in the Donetsk region.
According to the SBU, the premises where the refugees found shelter received the most damage, and there are wounded. According to the UOC-MP, the premises of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, where the brethren of the monastery and people who fled to the church to hide from Russian shelling, were damaged by the explosion.
Almost all windows were broken, church buildings were destroyed to varying degrees. The abbot of the Lavra, Metropolitan of Svyatogorsk Arseniy, recorded a video message saying that the bomb fell near the bridge connecting the city of Svyatogorsk and the Svyatogorsk Lavra.
As a result of the air strike, windows were shattered in the Assumption Cathedral and the Pokrovsky Church. The Lavra hotel was also damaged, where at that time 520 refugees lived, 200 of whom were children.
