The Russian was detained in Norway on suspicion of large-scale fraud. He was caught at Gardermoen Airport on December 29th. Russia has issued an international arrest warrant, according to the Romerikes Blad newspaper.

The information about the detainee was received by the Norwegian police through Interpol. According to the Norwegian newspaper, in Russia a man is suspected of fraud with fictitious contracts worth over $ 1.4 million. The investigation believes that he committed the offense as a member of the board of the firm.

The detainee lives in Belgium, and came to Norway on vacation. The man has been wanted since the spring of 2021. The police asked the court to send the businessman into custody. But the court refused, pointing out that there was no evidence of the detainee's guilt. According to the newspaper, the Russian side did not hand over documents that would indicate the man's involvement in the crime.

Now the decision of the court has been appealed by the prosecutor's office. A new examination of the application will take place later. The Russian Embassy in Norway has not yet commented on the arrest of the suspect in large-scale fraud.

On December 29, it became known about the detention in Turkey of a Russian with a forged passport. He was suspected of having links with terrorists. The identity of the Russian citizen has not yet been disclosed. The detention took place at the Ankara airport.
