Russian sued Apple for money for drowned iPhone

by alex

Russian iPhone user S.I. Shalin dropped his smartphone into the pool, and after that it did not turn on. The man, convinced that the device was waterproof due to advertising, sued the American company and won.

Shalin contacted Apple's Mobile Telecommunications Service (MT Service) service center. There he was told that they could not replace the device under warranty, since the user had violated the rules for using the smartphone. The man was advised to contact Apple Rus.

It is reported that Shalin's broken iPhone was never returned. As a result, the man went to court demanding to recover from Apple Rus the cost of the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, a forfeit, compensation for moral damage and a fine. The court partially satisfied these requirements. Apple Rus filed an appeal, but was not satisfied.

The fact is that Apple in its advertising said that the iPhone 11 Pro Max is protected according to the IP68 standard, that is, it can be in water at a depth of four meters for 30 minutes. The plaintiff claimed that the smartphone stayed in the pool for 15 seconds.
