A Russian Su-27 fighter jet dangerously approached an Israeli Airbus A320 passenger airliner flying from the Greek island of Rhodes to Tel Aviv. This is reported by the Ynet edition.
The incident took place on 18 October in the airspace of Cyprus. For a time, the two aircraft flew at a distance of less than two kilometers from each other. Greek dispatchers intervened in the situation, after which the Su-27 changed course.
The publication, citing sources, notes that recently the activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the region of Cyprus has increased. This is associated with the activities of aviation in the immediate vicinity of the Russian Khmeimim airbase in Syria. It is noted that similar incidents involving Russian fighters were recorded in relation to other aircraft.
As a result of the incident, no one was hurt. There are currently no official comments on what happened.
