Russian student punished for taking photos of Gestapo chief Mueller at the Immortal Regiment

According to the court's verdict, he will pay a fine of 300 thousand Russian rubles (about 4 thousand US dollars).

In Russia, a sentence was passed on Denis Vorontsov, a student from Volgograd, who was accused of rehabilitating Nazism during the traditional Russian action “Immortal Regiment” dedicated to the memory of veterans of the so-called Great Patriotic War.

This was reported on Tuesday, January 11, in the joint press service of the courts of the Volgograd region.

According to the message, in May 2020, Denis Vorontsov, through the VKontakte social network, made an application for a demonstration on the Immortal Regiment Online website of a photo of the alleged veteran Gennady Mikhailovsky. In fact, he published an image of Heinrich Müller, head of the IV department of the state secret police (Gestapo) of the RSHA SS.

After being questioned on this account by the investigator, Denis Vorontsov imperceptibly took from his office his mobile phone, which had been confiscated during the search of his house, and deleted all information from it, destroying the evidence in the criminal case. This act was seen as an obstacle to the administration of justice.

“During interrogation as a suspect, he said that he did not know anything about the Immortal Regiment action on May 9, 2020, he did not take part in it online, and did not upload a photograph of Mueller. He assumed that his mobile phone could be used by acquaintances, information about which he refused to disclose, “- said in the press service of the court.

The court did not take into account the student's denial of his guilt and his assumption that someone broke his social network account, and fined him 300 thousand rubles – about 4 thousand US dollars.

We will remind, earlier in the Russian city of Tver held a rally dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation from the Nazi occupiers during World War II under the ambiguous name “1488 petals of memory”. Social network users noticed that the number repeats the combination of numbers 14/88, which is one of the symbols of the neo-Nazis.
