Russian opera singer Aida Garifullina witnessed the terrorist attack in the Austrian capital Vienna, which took place on November 2. Her words are reported by Channel Five.

As the artist said, at the time of the incident she was in the city center with her friends. There were no signs of tragedy, and there were many people on the streets, as the next day quarantine restrictions came into force.

“We heard gunfire while in the restaurant. All were urgently herded inside, asked to go up to the second floor and hide, ”she said. According to her, they were in this position for half an hour. The singer herself managed to warn her relatives to be at home. She added that everything happened very quickly, and the streets were empty in a few minutes.

According to the singer, there are still few people on the streets of the city. “I faced a real nightmare and shock, I will definitely not go out in the near future. We were just lucky. But seeing the grief of other people is very scary, ”said Garifullina, advising all residents of Vienna and Europe to avoid public places.

The shooting in the Austrian capital began on the evening of November 2: the first shots were fired at the synagogue in the city center. Almost simultaneously with this, several more people opened fire in other places. Later it became known that the security forces managed to shoot one of the attackers, while the others were being sought. At the same time, it has not yet been proven that the shooter did not act alone.

According to the press, the eliminated intruder is a 20-year-old native of Vienna, Curtin S. He has Albanian roots, although his parents are from North Macedonia. The Interior Ministry indicated that he had dual Macedonian-Austrian citizenship and was convicted of trying to join IS.

According to the latest data, four were killed, 22 people were injured. The terrorist group “Islamic State” (IS, banned in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
