Russian scouts twice tried to fly in the air defense zone of Alaska

The North American Air Defense Command informs about at least two active attempts by Russian reconnaissance aircraft to fly in the air defense zone of Alaska.

This is discussed in a message on the Twitter microblogging service of the joint NORAD command.

Note that Alaska borders Russia through the Bering Strait.

“On two separate occasions over the past two days, NORAD in the Alaska region detected, tracked and identified Russian reconnaissance aircraft that entered and operated in the air defense zone of Alaska,” we read in the message.

At the same time, Russian reconnaissance aircraft did not enter the sovereign airspace of America or Canada.

Recall that NORAD – Joint Air Defense System of North America of the continent, the operation of which is provided by both Canadian and American air defense forces.
