Russian scientists have found the “elixir of youth”
Russian scientists were the first in the world to prove that the terpenes of the Siberian fir trigger the process of increasing life expectancy. The discovery is described in the September issue of the international scientific journal Aging.
Secondary metabolites of fir activate the process of autophagy in the body – cleansing from “cellular debris”. Damaged protein molecules and viruses are processed into nutrients. This contributes to an increase in life expectancy.
The term “aitophagy” was coined by the Belgian biochemist Christian de Duve. For his discovery, he received the Nobel Prize in 1974. In 2016, a Japanese scientist received the same award for describing the mechanism of autophagy.
In most cells, autophagy is genetically disabled. Scientists around the world are looking for ways to wake them up. Specialists from Russia managed to do this.
It turned out that it is the terpenes of the Siberian fir that quickly and absolutely safely trigger autophagy in human cells. The discovery was made by scientists from the research and production company “Initium-Pharm” and the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Earlier, Russian scientists have created an effective treatment for cancer. Radioactive anemones-225 has become 40% more effective against oncology.
