The American Geophysical Union (AGU) has apologized to Russian scientists, whose article was not previously accepted for consideration due to the sanctions imposed on Russia. RIA Novosti reports.

AGU invited scientists from the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP RAS) to reapply. “After carefully considering the process the manuscript went through, we determined that we were wrong when we decided that the article could not be accepted for consideration due to the sanctions. We apologize to the authors, ”the organization noted.

Earlier, AGU did not accept for publication an article by Russian scientists motivated its refusal by the fact that the article “New connection between El Niño – Southern Oscillation and atmospheric electricity” is a consequence of “scientific works financed by the Russian government and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the government RF “.

Under the auspices of the AGU, the scientific journal Geophysical Research Letters and the Journal of Geophysical Research series are published, which are the main highly rated publications in the field of geophysics.
