Russian scientists announced the effectiveness of revaccination with “Sputnik V”
Specialists of Kazan Federal University, studying the immune response to Russian vaccines against coronavirus, found that after being vaccinated with Sputnik V, the body produces antibodies not only to COVID-19, but also to the vector components of the drug. But this does not reduce the effectiveness of the booster vaccine. Scientists emphasized that the drug manages to get into the cells before antibodies to the vector could block the drug's action, Izvestia writes.
As the director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamaley Alexander Gunzburg, an immune response is formed to any protein that is part of the vaccine, and the protein membranes of the vaccine based on adenoviruses are no exception. According to Gunzburg, for effective revaccination, it is enough for a person to be injected with a single injection of Sputnik Light. He said that this option is also suitable for those who have been vaccinated with EpiVacKorona and KoviVac.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Russia told about the recommendations for revaccination against coronavirus. The department noted that during the period of the rise in the incidence, it is necessary to be vaccinated once every six months, both for those who have been ill and those who were vaccinated earlier. In a quiet time, one should be vaccinated once a year, the ministry said.
Russia became the first country in the world to register a vaccine against COVID-19.
