Russian sappers destroyed an empty cave with a field hospital equipped by militants of the Jaysh al-Iza group in the Syrian province of Idlib. This was announced by the head of the engineering troops of the Russian Armed Forces in Syria, Colonel Roman Bessmertny, reports TASS.
As Bessmertny said, the hospital was adapted both for receiving patients and for carrying out complex operations. It could accommodate up to 100 people. The hospital has been accepting the sick and wounded since 2015, but already in 2019 it was abandoned by the militants during the retreat. Most of the equipment, medicines and instruments were taken away, the rest was thrown or burned.
At the moment, the zone of contact with the territory controlled by illegal armed groups is located several tens of kilometers from the cave. It was decided to destroy it as unnecessary.
