Russian programmer Leonid Yamburg, who lives in Silicon Valley in the US state of California, killed his wife Svetlana and their 11-year-old daughter, after which he confessed to the police. This was announced by the Department of Public Security of the city of Sunnyvale on January 20, but the Russian media drew attention to this only on January 26.
After the 51-year-old man surrendered to the police, they went to his home and found the bodies of his 47-year-old wife and their daughter. The exact cause of their death had not been established at the time of publication, and both had head injuries. Yamburg was left in custody with no bail.
According to the local edition of Mercury News, the neighbors of the family and other residents of the city are shocked by what happened: in the town there is an extremely low crime rate, since 2010 there have been only 19 murders, including these two.
