Today, December 15, Tuesday, at the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, the first flight of the Russian medium-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft MS-21-310 (“Trunk aircraft of the XXI century 310”) with Russian PD-14 engines took place, Rostec reports.

“Now we are seeing the fruits of the labor of tens of thousands of people who worked at the enterprises of the aircraft engine-building industry in order for this flight to take place,” said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

The statement of the state corporation notes that the plane was in the air for 85 minutes.

In March 2019, the General Director of the All-Russian Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Evgeny Kablov, said that the PD-14 turbofan engine, intended for the MC-21 aircraft, “was only relatively recently developed and created” and is “ absolutely outstanding. “

In January it was reported that the measures imposed by the US Department of Industry and Commerce against the supplier of composites for MS-21 are not sanctions, but “technological restrictions.”

In October 2018, PD-14 received a Type Certificate signed by the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko.

The development of PD-14 was carried out by the Perm Aviadvigatel within the framework of the state program “Development of the aviation industry for 2013-2025”. Power units will receive the MS-21, designed to carry up to 211 people (the most dense arrangement of seats in the MC-21-300 version) at a distance of up to 6.4 thousand kilometers. The family car made its first flight in May 2017.

Earlier it was reported that the MS-21 received American PW1000G engines.
