After the distribution of summons, the national anthem was played in honor of the new citizens of Russia.
In the city of St. Petersburg at the official reception ceremony Russian citizenship, held at the police department of the Kalininsky district, eleven men received, in addition to the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, also summons to the military registration and enlistment office.
The Moscow Times reports this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The Russian department noted that “immigrants from neighboring countries” who received Russian passports swore to fulfill the duties of a citizen of the Russian Federation, including “to defend the freedom and independence” of the state. That is why, they say, representatives of the military registration and enlistment offices, with the participation of the leadership of the military investigative department of the RF Investigative Committee for the St. Petersburg garrison, handed summons to the newly minted Russians.
After the distribution of summonses, the national anthem was played in honor of the new citizens of Russia.
The publication noted that since the beginning of the summer of 2023, Russian security forces have been ordered to conduct raids on migrants and persons who have recently received Russian citizenship in order to send them to military registration and enlistment offices for military registration.
Raids took place at the Chinese market in Chelyabinsk, at the Khiloksky market in Novosibirsk, at the Sofia vegetable warehouse in St. Petersburg, in the Sverdlovsk region and Chuvashia, as well as in mosques in the Moscow region and in Wildberries warehouses.
In Moscow, police patrol officers were also instructed to look for citizens who are not registered with the military. To do this, they must check the corresponding mark in the passport of passers-by. If there is no such mark, the citizen is ordered to be detained and taken to the police department.
The district police officer will have to copy down the detainee’s data and send it to the military registration and enlistment office at the place of residence so that the commissariat staff can register the person. In this case, the detainee will also be given a referral to the military registration and enlistment office. It was recommended that the police focus on those who had recently received Russian citizenship.
Recall that the Russian authorities intend to mobilize after Vladimir Putin again becomes President of Russia in March 2024.
