For the first time during the exercise, the Russian Navy (Navy) conducted a covert deployment of ships in the Pacific Ocean. This was announced by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at an expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry, RIA Novosti reports.
“For the first time in modern history, an operational exercise was conducted with a grouping of forces of the Pacific Fleet in the far sea zone,” Shoigu said, adding that the covert deployment of ships was carried out in a remote region of the Pacific Ocean.
At the same time, on the Franz Josef Land archipelago, an integrated Arctic expedition “Umka” was carried out, which has no analogues in the world. As a result, all samples of weapons have confirmed their technical characteristics.
Earlier on December 21, Shoigu announced a historic record for the Russian nuclear triad: the share of modern weapons in it reached 89.1 percent. According to him, along with the supply of new weapons to the Russian army, a modern infrastructure is being created in the country, which will be used by strategic nuclear forces.
