The Russian Aerospace Forces transferred two Tu-160 strategic missile carriers from the Engels airbase near Saratov to Chukotka. This constituent entity of the Russian Federation in the east has a sea border with the United States.
The transfer took place during a long-range aviation exercise. Tu-160 flew without landing for about 7000 kilometers. It took the planes more than seven hours to do this. It is reported that the flight took place normally, without any comments. The crew completed all the tasks assigned to it.
During the exercises, long-range aviation will also have to shoot at ground targets.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta reminds that earlier Tu-160 and Tu-95 missile carriers successfully fired cruise missiles at the Arctic range. The last aircraft, in addition to this, worked out the defense from the stern cannons in the Irkutsk region.
