Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that in 2021 the Russian military will receive an “invisible” aerial bomb. It will not be able to recognize the radars.
The new aerial bomb is called the Drill. It has already been tested, and it has confirmed its combat effectiveness. The Ministry of Defense will purchase weapons in 2021 and 2022–2023. Borisov argues that the Drill is nearly impossible to detect with radar.
The bomb was developed by specialists from the Basalt Research and Production Association, which is part of the Rostec State Corporation. The explosive device is capable of destroying armored vehicles, ground radar stations, power plant control points and anti-aircraft missile systems. The bomb is aimed at the target using the GLONASS system. Its planning range is 30 kilometers. The main carrier of the “Drill” should be a new fifth-generation fighter, the Su-57.
