Throw test ICBM RS-28 “Sarmat”
The State Rocket Center (GRC) named after Academician Makeyev has proposed the concept of a super-heavy rocket “Leader”, designed for flights to the Moon and Mars, reports TASS, referring to the available materials.
According to them, in the basic version, the carrier has a pair of side blocks (first stage) equipped with RD-171M engines, and a central block (second stage) receiving RD-0120 power units. The rocket head includes an upper stage, an interorbital tug and a spacecraft.
In the basic version, the Leader is capable of delivering up to 53 tons to a low reference orbit. The total mass of the rocket will be 1143 tons, the height (together with the Orel spacecraft) – 91 meters. A rocket for the Moon, according to the GRC, is supposed to be built from four side blocks and two central ones, for flights to Mars – from six side blocks and three central ones.
In January, the military expert of the magazine Arsenal of the Fatherland, Alexei Leonkov, said that ten RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) developed by the GRC are enough to destroy the entire US population.
