Foreign rivals of the Russian Iskander-E operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) are the American MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System (ATacMS), the Israeli LOng-Range Artillery Missile (LORA) ballistic missile system and the Chinese SY-400 c missiles BP-12A, writes Izvestia.
The latter is called the actual “direct competitor” of Russian weapons in the publication. “Its almost complete analogue, reproduced in the DPRK, can also become a potential competitor to the Russian complex,” the newspaper writes, reminding that “due to international sanctions, full-fledged competition on its part will soon not be expected.”
The publication notes that their own OTRKs are being developed in Turkey. In particular, KHAN is mentioned as the export version of Bora. “There is also a less perfect complex J-600T Yıldırım in Turkey, which, under certain conditions, can also occupy its niche in the market and compete with our system,” the newspaper says.
The publication notes that on the basis of the Chinese A-200 complex in Belarus, a long-range multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) B-200 “Polonez” is being produced. “Finally, new long-range MLRS are becoming more and more serious competitors of OTRK as a whole,” the newspaper notes.
In November 2020, The Drive reported that a few hours before the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Yerevan used an Iskander missile for the first time.
In October of the same year, the same publication wrote that Azerbaijan for the first time used an operational-tactical missile system with a single-stage solid-propellant ballistic missile LORA, developed by the Israeli company Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI).
