Russian immunologists doubted the possibility of re-infection with coronavirus. In their opinion, after a disease, a stable immunity is formed in the body. Scientists spoke about this in an interview with the portal URA.ru.

So, according to Sergei Netesov, head of the laboratory of bionanotechnology, microbiology and virology at Novosibirsk State University, repeated cases of infection are extremely rare. However, half of these patients have chronic problems with the immune system.

“This idea should be confirmed within a year or two. Last year, there were a lot of suspicions of re-infection with coronavirus. However, laboratory methods have proven only 20-30 cases out of almost 100 million registered patients, ”he stressed.

In addition, the head of the laboratory of the Ivanovsky Research Institute of Virology, Professor Alexander Butenko, is sure that after the transferred COVID-19, a stable lifelong immunity is formed: the same as after tick-borne encephalitis or yellow fever.

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova confirmed that re-infection is possible if the immune system is disturbed. She stressed that no more than 50 such cases have been identified worldwide.
