Alleged Russian hackers, ostensibly acting on behalf of the Russian state, attempted to undermine the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. This was reported by Reuters with reference to three sources close to the question.
The hack targeted employees of SKDKnickerbocker, a firm that runs strategy and communications for Biden's headquarters, and serves other prominent Democrats. Attempts involving phishing and other attack methods have continued over the past two months, but have not been crowned with success. It is not entirely clear whether Joe Biden was their target.
On September 5, the FBI named the main methods of Russian intelligence to interfere in the American elections, including cyberattacks, disinformation on social networks and the placement of political ads on behalf of American citizens.
Previously favorite of the US presidential race, Democratic candidate Joe Biden, named Russia as the main threat to the American elections. According to Biden, many countries in the world want to destabilize the situation with the elections in the United States, but it is Russia that is working on this most diligently and constantly.
Russia has been repeatedly accused of interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. American journalists and officials claimed that “Russian hackers” had stolen Democratic correspondence and published it on the Internet, and also tried to infiltrate the electronic counting system.
