Russia can carry out activities through the Navy if the United States provokes the Russian Federation and continues to exert military pressure. A possible response to the provocations was revealed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with RTVI.
So the deputy minister answered the question whether the possibility of deploying Russian military infrastructure, for example, in Venezuela or Cuba, is being considered.
Ryabkov replied that he did not want to confirm anything, but did not exclude anything either. “In the American style, the optionality of a foreign, military policy is the cornerstone of ensuring the powerful influence of this country in the world. It depends on the actions of our American colleagues,” Ryabkov stressed.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly spoken out about what measures could be taken, for example, through the Navy, if things go “completely in the direction of provoking Russia.” According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the Russian side does not want this, so the diplomats must come to an agreement.
Earlier, Sergei Ryabkov, following the results of negotiations on security guarantees, said that the countries failed to agree on the non-expansion of NATO to the East. According to him, the issue of obtaining legal guarantees regarding the non-expansion of NATO aroused “serious objections” from the United States.
On January 10, negotiations were held in Geneva on guarantees of security and strategic stability between the delegations of Russia and the United States. According to a State Department spokesman, in total, the discussion between the officials of the two countries lasted about 7.5 hours.
