The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia summoned the Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine and protested against the rally against Russian diplomats in the country. This was reported on the website of the Foreign Ministry.
The press service clarified that on March 16, posters with photographs of diplomats, accompanied by offensive comments, appeared near the building of the Russian Embassy in Kiev and the places of residence of its employees. In addition, unidentified persons damaged four official vehicles of the diplomatic mission that were parked.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry in an interview with the Ukrainian diplomat stressed that they regard the aforementioned provocation as a violation of the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, which guarantees the security, immunity and respect of the employees of diplomatic missions. The Russian side demanded to conduct an investigation and bring to justice those involved in the action, as well as to ensure that this does not happen again in the future.
It is also reported that the Russian Embassy in Kiev also reacted to the incident and sent a note of protest to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
