Russian athletes took the entire podium at the European Championships (EC) in figure skating. The first place on the podium was taken by Kamila Valieva, a Lenta.ru correspondent reports.
It is noted that the 15-year-old figure skater received 259.06 points for two rentals. In the short program, Valieva set a world record (90.45 points). The previous achievement in the short program also belonged to the athlete and amounted to 87.42 points.

Silver in the championship was won by the reigning world champion Anna Shcherbakova, gaining 237.42 points. Alexandra Trusova took bronze with 234.36 points.

The choreographer of the group of coach Eteri Tutberidze Alexei Zheleznyakov reacted emotionally to the triumph of Russian figure skaters on his Instagram. “Shut up, scum!” he wrote, posting photos of Valieva, Shcherbakova and Trusova. Later, he made another publication with a photo of Shcherbakova.

The athlete herself said that she was satisfied with the results of the championship. “I was very disappointed after the short program, but just as happy in the opposite direction after the free program, and probably this covers all the negative emotions,” she shared. At the same time, Trusova, on the contrary, said that she was dissatisfied with her performances.
Parade of Victories
The European Figure Skating Championship takes place in Tallinn from 12 to 16 January. This is the last international start before the Beijing Olympics.
The triumph of Valieva, Shcherbakova and Trusova was not the only triple Russian podium in these competitions. On January 13, the Russians took all the prizes in the pairs competition. Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov won the tournament with a new world record. The second were Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov. The top three winners were closed by Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky.
The next day, 18-year-old Russian Mark Kondratyuk became the European champion in men's singles. For him, the victory was the first in a major international tournament. After that, on January 15, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov confirmed the European title in ice dancing. Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin finished the competition in second place.
As for Valieva, Shcherbakova and Trusova, it was in this composition that the athletes took the podium at the Russian Championship, which was held in St. Petersburg from December 23 to 26, 2021. Valieva became the winner of the competition, Trusova and Shcherbakova placed second and third respectively.
