Russian fighter jets arrive in Syria for exercises

Fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces with Kinzhal missiles arrived for exercises in Syria

MiG-31K Russian Aerospace Forces fighters with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, together with Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, arrived in Syria to participate in military exercises. It is reported by RBC with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It is reported that the planes arrived at the Russian airbase in Khmeimim. Fighters and bombers will take part in inter-arms exercises with the Russian Navy grouping in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea.

“The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the forces of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect Russian national interests in the oceans, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions,” the Defense Ministry said.

Earlier it became known that more than 30 ships of the Black Sea Fleet went to sea from Sevastopol and Novorossiysk during the exercises taking place as part of large-scale maneuvers of the Russian Navy. In addition to naval formations, fleet aviation and units of coastal troops were involved in the exercises.
