Russian fighter escorted US bombers over the Baltic Sea

A Russian Su-27 fighter was escorting US bombers over the Baltic Sea. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the National Defense Control Center of Russia.

According to the official statement, Russian airspace controls detected two American B-1Bs as they approached the Russian border. The Su-27 was raised to prevent its violation and to identify air targets. The Russian fighter escorted US aircraft over the Baltic Sea and returned to the home base. It is noted that there was no violation of the state border.

Earlier it was reported that two Russian Su-27 fighters intercepted a group of French Air Force planes over the Black Sea. The Russian Defense Ministry noted that the planes were heading to the country's borders.
