The Russian embassy in Washington has responded to a US intelligence statement about “interference” in the 2020 US presidential election. The comment was posted on his Facebook page.
According to the embassy, the report is “another set of baseless accusations” against Russia.
“The conclusions of the report on the conduct of operations of influence by Russia in America are confirmed solely by the confidence of the intelligence services in their correctness. No facts or concrete evidence of such claims is given, ”the message says.
The text also notes that Washington continues the practice of “megaphone diplomacy” in order to “maintain the negative background around Russia.” The embassy believes that the United States is thus shifting the responsibility for destabilizing the situation inside the country onto external players.
“This attitude of the administration is unlikely to correspond to our proposed equal and mutually respectful expert dialogue to find solutions to the most pressing issues. Washington's actions do not contribute to the normalization of bilateral relations, ”the diplomatic mission concluded.
US intelligence released a report accusing Russia and Iran of meddling in the 2020 presidential election. Washington accuses Moscow of trying to support Donald Trump's re-election, discredit Joe Biden and “sow discord” in American society. At the same time, Iran also allegedly “made attempts to influence the elections in the United States” and tried to prevent Trump from winning. In this regard, the United States has already announced sanctions against countries.
On November 3, 2020, the next presidential elections were held in the United States. On January 7, the US Congress approved the victory of Democrat Joe Biden, he became the 46th head of state.
