Russian embassy responded to attack on Russians in Istanbul

The Russian Embassy in Turkey reacted to an armed attack on Russians in Istanbul. The diplomatic mission called on Russian citizens to be more careful and avoid dangerous situations, RIA Novosti reports.

“We urge tourists not to come into contact with suspicious individuals, to stay away from mentally unbalanced persons, to be vigilant at crowded tourist sites, to avoid places of demonstrations and protest actions, as well as to move along deserted streets, especially at night,” agency post of the diplomatic mission.

The attack on three Russians in Turkish Istanbul took place on Sunday evening, January 24. Two women and a man were wounded with a knife, and local residents came to their aid. Later it became known that the attacker was the 40-year-old garbage collector Hassan Hussein.

He is currently detained. He has at least 30 convictions. Moreover, he is mentally unstable.
