During the Zapad-2021 exercise, laser adjustment of targets for Gran 'mines and Krasnopol guided missiles was tested using Russian Orion and Forpost-R drones.
A source in the Ministry of Defense told Izvestia that the Orion and Forpost-R combat drones will be able to direct the Gran and Krasnopol guided munitions at targets using a laser. The source reports that during the Zapad-2021 military exercises at the Mulino training ground, drones transmitted the coordinates of targets to command posts, after which they illuminated them with a laser.
Guided munitions “Gran” and “Krasnopol” were used to practice adjustments during the exercises. These ammunition, when approaching the target, is guided by a laser mark on the target.
It is noted that the “Edge” – a guided mine of 120 mm caliber, can hit maneuvering targets at any time of the day, and the laser mark allows you to destroy an object from the first shot. “Krasnopol” – artillery ammunition of 152 or 155 mm caliber controlled by aerodynamic rudders. Designed to engage armored and fortified targets at a distance of 10-16 km. Also designed to destroy objects from the first shot.
The source also reports that during the exercise, the effectiveness of the use of drones in laser adjustment of targets was confirmed.
