Russian Drones in Romania: Rutte Sends Tough Message to Bucharest

Air defense remains a priority for the Alliance.

Romania must “effectively respond” to violations of its airspace by foreign drones and missiles.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made this statement.

The Secretary General noted that NATO allies confirmed that air defense remains a priority for the Alliance.

“Considering Russia's war against Ukraine, which led to the violation of NATO airspace, in particular Romania, I want to say: NATO shows its solidarity, and we also call on the Romanian authorities to respond effectively to this incident,” Rutte emphasized.

Recall that last night, once again Romania scrambled four fighter jets because of an unknown drone. The UAV penetrated to a depth of 14 km in the southeastern county of Constanta.
