The wreckage of a Russian UAV fell on the Romanian bank of the Danube outside a populated area.
Following attacks by Russian troops in recent weeks on civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported the discovery of fragments of a drone that fell on the Romanian coast Danube.
The press service of the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported this.
“On Tuesday, September 24, specialists examined the area south of the city of Plauru in Tulcea County, where fragments of a drone were reported to have fallen. The study area is located outside the residential perimeter of the settlement, and the infrastructure was not damaged,” the report says.
During the investigation carried out on site, it was established that the fragments found belong to the Russian Geran-2 drone. After their discovery, they were sent for examination.
“The Ministry of National Defense reiterates its strong condemnation of these attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which are unjustified and contrary to international law,” the Romanian Defense Ministry emphasized.
Recall that since the beginning of the war of aggression, fragments of Russian drones have fallen in Romania several times. After a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Luminita Odobescu in Bucharest, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga asked Romania to shoot down Russian drones that approach the airspace of this NATO country.
