The Indian strain of the coronavirus “delta” began to manifest itself as disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, Russian doctors of various profiles told TASS. According to the observations of specialists, to the known symptoms, in particular, were added abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.
“For the covid that has now attacked, the delta strain, is characterized by the so-called“ gastric syndrome ”or“ gastric covid ”. Quite often, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea are added to the already known symptoms, ”the agency quotes the words of the immunologist Vladimir Bolibok.
“Usually we do not know what strain we have in front of us, because in our routine practice we do not conduct research on the coronavirus subspecies. But I can note that recently, after the “delta” strain began to spread, coronavirus patients are increasingly complaining of upset gastrointestinal tract – diarrhea, abdominal pain. This symptom was added to what it was before, namely – cough, weakness, myalgia – muscle pain, ”said the pulmonologist Aleksey Nikishenkov.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that the Indian delta strain is twice as infectious as the original SARS-CoV-2. It is recorded in more than 85 countries. According to some reports, this mutation can affect the effectiveness of antibodies against the virus.
