Doctor of Medical Sciences, head of the laboratory of the Mechnikov Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums, Mikhail Kostinov, revealed the features of the re-vaccination against coronavirus in an interview with Sputnik radio.
It all depends on how the person got the first vaccination. Doctors have the means to neutralize unpleasant consequences, if any, Kostinov said.
“If there were unusual reactions to one drug, then it can be changed. There are strategies in case there was some kind of discomfort, if a local reaction was formed, if a temperature arose, and so on, ”the specialist noted.
According to him, the infection is constantly mutating, and experts are currently not ready to answer the question of how well people who already have antibodies are protected from the new COV ID-19 strains.
“This remains a mystery. Therefore, it was decided by virologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, and other specialists that people who have had more than six months since the moment of vaccination should receive an additional dose of the vaccine, ”he explained.
Earlier, Oksana Drapkina, the chief freelance therapist of the Russian Ministry of Health, said that the re-vaccination against coronavirus is taking place in accordance with the instructions for the use of drugs. According to the expert, revaccination is carried out with two components of the drugs. The required interval is also maintained: for the Sputnik V vaccine it is three weeks, for EpiVacCorona – two to three weeks, and 14 days for KoviVac.
